This uniquehouse was originally home to a powerful
Victorian steam engine which provided energy to operate the
looms and mechanical equipment across the whole mill complex.
The importance and prestige of the engine house is reflected
in the architectural emphasis placed on it when it was built
150 years ago. It has an enormous cut stone arch and lofty proportions.
The impressive original roof structure is sand blasted and left
exposed over the upper storey double-height living space. Leading
from the lounge and dining area is a magnificent south-facing
balcony with breathtaking views. Access to the engine house
is provided by a new staircase in a new glass slot through the
adjacent weaving shed. In addition to the impressive living
accommodation the engine house has three bedrooms (two with
ensuite facilities) and a family bathroom.
